Quality Assurance
Quality at Aqua Hundred is not a department. It's a culture embedded in every process, every person, and every bottle since 1992.

How We Purify
From raw source water to the sealed bottle in your hand, every drop passes through eleven rigorous purification stages. This is not standard industry practice, it is the Aqua Hundred standard.
Raw source water is held in sedimentation tanks where heavy suspended particles: silt, mud, and debris, settle to the bottom by gravity. Controlled chlorination is simultaneously applied to neutralise biological contaminants present in the raw water, making it safe to pass to the next stage.
Pre-treated water passes through a mixed-media bed combining different filtration materials in layers. This multi-media approach captures a broad spectrum of remaining particles and impurities across varying sizes in a single, highly efficient pass, preparing water for deeper filtration downstream.
Water flows downward through deep beds of graded silica sand under controlled pressure. This classical yet highly effective method physically traps remaining fine particulate matter and turbidity as water passes through the sand column, producing noticeably clearer water for subsequent treatment stages.
Anthracite and Magnesium (AM) dual-media filtration. The anthracite layer captures organic compounds and chlorine by-products from earlier treatment, while the magnesium-based media below adsorbs dissolved heavy metals including iron and manganese. Together they form a powerful barrier that protects the sensitive RO membranes downstream.
Ion exchange water softening removes dissolved calcium and magnesium hardness ions from the water by exchanging them for sodium ions on a resin bed. Soft water prevents mineral scaling on downstream equipment, significantly extends the operational life of the RO membranes, and produces a noticeably cleaner, smoother taste profile.
A high-capacity bag filter housing provides bulk particle removal at a defined micron rating. It acts as the last major pre-filter before the precision ceramic and cartridge stages, catching any break-through particles that have passed earlier media filters and protecting the more delicate fine-filtration equipment downstream from premature fouling.
Precision ceramic filtration using candles or discs with extremely fine pores as small as 0.2 microns. This stage removes bacteria, protozoan cysts including Giardia and Cryptosporidium, and ultra-fine suspended particles with exceptional reliability. Ceramic media is fully chemically inert, it adds absolutely nothing to the water it filters.
Activated carbon filtration provides a critical chemical treatment stage before the RO membranes. The highly porous activated carbon surface adsorbs residual chlorine, chloramines, and chlorine by-products from earlier treatment, along with dissolved organic compounds, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that carry unpleasant taste and odour. This stage protects the sensitive RO membranes from chlorine degradation and ensures the water entering the RO system is chemically clean.
The centrepiece of our purification system. RO membranes force water through semi-permeable barriers at high pressure, filtering impurities at the molecular level. Dissolved salts, heavy metals, nitrates, fluoride, pesticides, and viruses are all rejected to 99.9%. This is where water is transformed into genuine purity.
Post-RO water flows through a high-intensity ultraviolet sterilisation chamber. UV light operating at 254nm wavelength penetrates cell walls and destroys the DNA of any residual microorganisms, permanently preventing reproduction and rendering them completely harmless. A fast, chemical-free, residue-free sterilisation method that leaves no trace in the water.
The ultimate finishing stage. Ozone (O3), one of the most powerful natural oxidants known to science, is injected into the purified water. It eliminates any remaining trace contamination, destroys residual organic compounds, and naturally extends shelf life without any preservative chemicals. Ozone breaks down entirely to pure oxygen, leaving only the cleanest possible water sealed into your bottle.
International Certification
Aqua Hundred is certified under the ISO 9001 international quality management standard, one of the most respected quality certifications in the world. This certification governs our entire 11-stage purification process and demands:
This certification means that when you open a bottle of Aqua Hundred, you're not just trusting our word, you're trusting a system verified by international auditors.
In-House Laboratory
At our Balaju, Kathmandu facility, we operate a fully equipped in-house water testing laboratory staffed by trained quality technicians. Before any product is distributed, it must pass every single test. Our zero-compromise policy means that if a batch fails, it is destroyed. No exceptions. No shortcuts.
Every test we run ensures the water reaching your family is as pure as it was designed to be.
Total Dissolved Solids: measuring mineral content and purity level
Confirming neutral pH levels safe for daily consumption
Testing for E.coli, coliforms and all harmful microorganisms
Heavy metals, contaminants, and chemical compound testing
Visual clarity and transparency standards verification
Temperature, colour, odour, and taste assessments
Safe Packaging
Purifying the water is only half the equation. Our packaging ensures that purity reaches you intact.
All our 250ml–5L bottles are made from food-grade PET (polyethylene terephthalate) which are completely BPA-free and fully recyclable. No harmful chemical leaching into your water.
Our 19L jars use high-quality polycarbonate material engineered for repeated refilling. Rigorously tested to ensure zero leaching across hundreds of refill cycles.
Every bottle is sealed with tamper-evident caps. If the seal is intact when it reaches you, you have visual proof that no one has opened or tampered with your water since it left our facility.
No product ever leaves our facility without passing every laboratory test. Products that fail our standards are destroyed immediately. No exceptions, no grey areas. That is the Aqua Hundred guarantee, and it has been since 1992.
